She’s had many Students in All-State Band, Governor’s School, students with sizable college scholarships as non-music majors, and full music scholarships.
Kristen Bowers is an active professional freelance musician in the Nashville area. She’s played with the Nashville Symphony including an Amy Grant tour, Colorado Symphony, Knoxville Symphony, and as a regular member of the symphonies of Huntsville, Owensboro, Evansville, Cheyenne, and Greeley, Colorado. She currently plays Second in the Murfreesboro Symphony, Principal in Sewanee Symphony Orchestra, and Principal in the Nashville Praise Symphony. Her recordings include “Silhouettes” in the movie Catching Fire, music for CNN Financial Network, and Strauss Serenade with the Gateway Chamber Orchestra. She is in demand playing for churches and plays at her own where she sensitively improvises with harmony and countermelodies.
Mrs. Bowers has written solos for horn and trumpet which are very enjoyable for middle and high school students. Some help students learn specific skills and rhythms. Ten of these solos will appear on this website, hopefully soon.
Educationally, Mrs. Bowers received her Bachelor of Music at the University of Northern Colorado and Master of Arts from Denver University, both degrees in Music Performance. Some of Mrs. Bowers’ biggest rewards as a teacher are seeing students grow personally through music – in character, goal achievement, and developing mind, body, soul and spirit.
